Work in Dublin Group Show

There's a Pop up show opening this Friday (December 5th) at Emmett House in Dublin. The show is running for a week. I'll be deciding Monday for definite what I'm putting into it, I'll either be putting in one of the images below or both or maybe working on something new altogether for it, I'll post it up if something new goes in.

Work in Birr Group Show

I have a piece of work in a group show in Birr, County Offaly. The show is titled Common Ground 2014 'Organic'. This is the second consecutive year that I have had a painting in this group exhibition. The show is taking place in Birr Theatre and Arts Centre and is open from the 5th of December. Below is the invitation and an image of the painting that I have in it.

Artist Talk, 23rd of October, Galway University Hospital

As part of the exhibition on show at Galway University Hospital this month I'll be giving an artist talk on Thursday the 23rd of October at 1:30pm.

Galway Solo Show - 'Excursion'

Excursion is opening this Tuesday the 1st of October in Galway University Arts Trust in Galway City. There's no official launch but it's open to the public from the 1st to the 30th of October. I will also be giving a talk for staff and patients of the hospital on the 23rd of October.

Installation shots of Birr Arts Festival

I meant to post these earlier but never got around to it. This space was in the vaults below one of the buildings in Birr. It was a really interesting space aside from it not being a white cube space it threw up plenty of challenges and things to watch out for. I was delighted to be part of the festival. There was a really nice atmosphere in the underground space because there were 8 of us holding solo exhibitions along the tunnel walls and there were 16 other artists showing a group show as part of a local art class. In the Building above the vaults the Birr Annual Open was held.

As you can see from the pictures the walls weren't smooth and the rough stone was something that tended to knock about some of the pieces especially the really small ones so it took a little tweeking to make sure they were flat on the wall.

Lighting was another issue that artists showing in the vaults were asked to consider. I decided to use 3 inspection lamps like the ones mechanics us. Visually I just liked them and I felt the look of them went well with the work.
