Installation shots of Birr Arts Festival

I meant to post these earlier but never got around to it. This space was in the vaults below one of the buildings in Birr. It was a really interesting space aside from it not being a white cube space it threw up plenty of challenges and things to watch out for. I was delighted to be part of the festival. There was a really nice atmosphere in the underground space because there were 8 of us holding solo exhibitions along the tunnel walls and there were 16 other artists showing a group show as part of a local art class. In the Building above the vaults the Birr Annual Open was held.





As you can see from the pictures the walls weren't smooth and the rough stone was something that tended to knock about some of the pieces especially the really small ones so it took a little tweeking to make sure they were flat on the wall.


Lighting was another issue that artists showing in the vaults were asked to consider. I decided to use 3 inspection lamps like the ones mechanics us. Visually I just liked them and I felt the look of them went well with the work.
